*Workers from Argentina’s state airline Aerolíneas Argentinas demanding better pay have launched another strike, indicative of rising tensions between airline staff unions and the government led by President Javier Milei, which earlier this month announced mass layoffs and unsuccessfully pushed for the airline to be privatised earlier this year. The latest strike was launched on 13 September and lasted for 24 hours, causing over 300 flights around the country to be cancelled. According to a press release from the airline, the strike impacted around 37,000 passengers and the total cost of the strike, from fines as well as losses for the tourism and hospitality sector, is estimated to be over US$2.5m.
