*The president of Honduras,
Xiomara Castro, has appointed a new finance minister.
Christian Duarte, who had been serving as director of the tax office, Servicio de Administración de Rentas (SAR), replaces
Marlon Ochoa in the role. Ochoa was sworn-in the previous day as one of the three magistrates on the national electoral council (CNE), a key role in the run-up to primary elections next March and presidential elections eight months later in November.
Rosa Mariana Ríos, the deputy director of the customs authority, was appointed to head the SAR.
