BRAZIL: Armed cattle ranchers attack indigenous communities

A series of armed attacks against indigenous peoples in the south and southwest of Brazil has raised concern for the federal government. Task forces seeking to mediate the conflicts have travelled from Brasília to the disputed areas in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná, although it is unlikely that these tensions will be resolved until there is more legal certainty regarding indigenous demarcations.
