*Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that the country’s GDP grew by 3.6% in the second quarter of the year, compared with the same period in 2023. In quarterly terms, GDP rose by 1.2% as compared to the previous quarter. Internal demand increased by 5.3% in Q2, while gross fixed investment increased by 3.4% and total consumption increased by 2.8%, amid a broader recovery from last year’s recession and with inflation now within the central bank’s target range. Exports fell by 2.5% in the second quarter, while imports rose by 3.2%.
