*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which show Uruguay’s annual inflation rate reached 5.45% in July, up from annual inflation of 4.96% in June but remaining within the government’s target range of 3% to 6%. Monthly inflation in July stood at 0.11%, down from 0.36% in June, while of the accumulated rate for the year stood at 3.73%. The core inflation rate, excluding fresh fruits, vegetables, and fuels, showed a monthly rise of 0.20%, reaching an annual rate of 4.58%. The monthly result was influenced by several sectors. Food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.56%, while clothing and footwear fell by 2.18% due to seasonal price reductions. Conversely, transport costs rose by 0.93% and restaurants and lodging prices increased by 0.41%.
