President Gustavo Petro’s government is continuing to suffer the fallout of the corruption scandal that rocked its disaster risk management unit (UNGRD) in May. The director of the national intelligence service (DNI), Carlos Ramón González, resigned on 26 July, having been placed under preliminary investigation by prosecutors the previous week. Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla is also under investigation and is facing intense pressure to stand down.
