*The governor of the Dominican Republic’s central bank (BCRD), Héctor Váldez Albizu, has met with members of an Article IV review mission by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). A BCRD statement said that the IMF is forecasting 5.1% GDP growth for 2024, with the IMF mission’s leader, Emilio Fernández-Corugedo, highlighting the impact of growing foreign direct investment (FDI). The BCRD statement also cited Fernández-Corugedo as saying that the outlook for the financial sector is positive, with sufficient levels of capitalisation and profitability, and as noting that inflation remains within the BCRD’s target range of 4% +/-1.
