*YPF Luz, the power generation unit of Argentina’s state oil company YPF, has announced the construction of a new solar park, ‘El Quemado 1’, in Las Heras department, Mendoza province. According to a YPF statement, the project, which will be developed with Mendoza’s state-owned energy firm, Emesa, will have installed capacity of 200 MW, enough to power over 180,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by 298,000 tonnes annually. The park will feature 330,000 bifacial solar panels and is expected to be operational by early 2026. This project, which will be carried out with US$170m investment in the first stage, will increase YPF Luz’s renewable capacity to 915 MW.
