CUBA: Controversy over Chinese listening station near Guantánamo

On 4 July US representative Carlos Giménez (R-FL) described reports that Cuba is building a new electronic surveillance facility, with assistance from China, as “worrisome, but not a surprise”; China denied the claims while the Cuban deputy foreign minister, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, said that any alleged Chinese military bases on the island “do not exist and no-one has seen them”.
