*Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has released new figures showing that the country’s economic output increased by 5.28% in April, compared with the same month last year. Economic sectors that saw growth included fishing (+158.40%), agriculture (+23.69%), mining & hydrocarbons (+4.34%), and manufacturing (+11.43%). However, Inei recorded contractions in hotels & restaurants (-3.47%) and the finance & insurance sector (-2.76%). Inei noted that the year-on-year increase can be partially explained by the fact that Easter fell in March this year, meaning that in April there were two more working days compared with April 2023.
