*Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released its consumer price index for May, showing monthly deflation of 0.12%. This brought annual inflation in May to 2.53%. Inflation was down from April, when the monthly rate was 1.27% and the annual rate was 2.75%. The deflation in May was due primarily to a fall in the cost of food & non-alcoholic drinks (-0.10%), followed by a small drop in the cost of furniture & domestic products (-0.01%).
