*Mexico’s Tourism Minister Miguel Torruco Marqués has announced that the country’s tourist economy grew by 5.5% in the final quarter of 2023, compared with the same period in 2022. The sector also registered a recovery of 5.8 percentage points compared to the year-on-year change recorded in the final quarter of 2019, before the onset of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Torruco said that tourism is on course to account for around 8.7% of total GDP in 2024.
