*Chile’s finance minister, Mario Marcel, has told reporters that the government led by President Gabriel Boric hopes to have “between ten and 12” green hydrogen projects confirmed before the end of its mandate in 2026. In a press conference Marcel said that over 50 projects are being currently considered by companies but “we need these studies to be transformed into investment decisions”. In July last year, the government unveiled a new strategic committee on green hydrogen, tasked with advising on the government’s green hydrogen strategy, while in June it announced the creation of a US$1bn fund for the development of green hydrogen which will help catalyse private investment in the sector. Chile expects to produce the lowest-cost hydrogen in the world by 2030 and to be among the world's top three hydrogen exporters by 2040.
