*Mexico’s government led by President
Andrés Manuel López Obrador has published an order in its official gazette decreeing the expropriation of a hydrogen plant owned by French firm Air Liquide at the Miguel Hidalgo refinery, owned by state-owned oil company Pemex, in Tula de Allende municipality, Hidalgo state. In December 2023, the government had ordered the temporary occupation of the hydrogen plant, which had been sold to the French company under the previous administration of
Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018), announcing that it would be operated by Pemex’s refining arm Pemex Transformación Industrial (PTI). In February 2024 the López Obrador government had ordered its expropriation.
