Araucanía special advisory commission publishes report

Last month, Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet received the report published by a special advisory commission set up in July 2016 to produce recommendations on how to address the ongoing conflict in the southern Araucanía Region, where the indigenous Mapuche lay claim to ancestral lands. The report’s findings had been particularly eagerly awaited given the upsurge in Mapuche-related unrest at the start of the year [RBS-17-01]
