Jamaica murder surge continues into 2017

There has been a surge in the murder rate in Jamaica since 2014, when the total of 1,005 killings was the lowest since 2003. In 2015, there were 1,192 murders, and in 2016 this figure had jumped by a further 11% to 1,325. This worrying trend has continued into 2017.
