Coal mine occupied in southern Chile

Development: On 9 December the local press reported that 60-80 miners from the Santa Ana coal mine located in Curanilahue commune, Biobío Region, had barricaded themselves deep underground as part of protests aimed at pressuring the government led by President Michelle Bachelet to provide the necessary resources to keep the mine operating.
