Development: On 8 February Chile’s judiciary (PJUD) announced that a Santiago appeals court judge, Omar Astudillo Contreras, has formally charged Corporal Juan Carlos Cruz Valverde, (Ret.) army Colonel Clovis Alejandro Montero Barra, and Sergeant Liliana Francisca Villagrán Vásquez for tax fraud in relation to the scandal involving the military (known as the ‘Milicogate’ case) which broke last year.
