Development: On 16 April the executive secretary of Venezuela’s opposition coalition Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), Jesús Torrealba, demanded an audit of the population statistics being used for this year’s pending legislative elections, suggesting that they are “being openly falsified” so as to allow the national electoral council (CNE) to gerrymander electoral districts to favour the ruling Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV).
