Development: On 21 September a spokesman for the joint police-military task force (FTC) deployed to northern Paraguay to fight the insurgent Ejército del Pueblo Paraguayo (EPP) guerrillas revealed that a presumed member of the EPP splinter group, Agrupación Campesina Armada (ACA), was killed during a shootout with an FTC patrol in the Arroyito area of Concepción department.
